*Surf School and COVID-19 Update 16th July*

We’re very excited to announce that we are reopening our surf school bases at Gwithian Towans and Praa Sands from the 01st July. Our wonderful team have been working tirelessly to ensure both locations are safe and follow the government guidelines for outdoor coaching.

We are now taking bookings for all types of lessons (with a maximum of 8 people) at Gwithian and Praa Sands, to make an enquiry please click the contact us link and we’ll get back to you within 24 hours. Alternatively you can book online by hitting the ‘BOOK NOW’ button shown in the bottom righthand corner of the page.

To ensure a safe and smooth flowing surf experience we have detailed below the key areas of change at the Surf School so that when you arrive on the day of your lesson you are confident that we have left no stone unturned is making your visit as enjoyable as possible.

Enquire Today

  1. We have carried out a COVID-19 risk assessment and shared the results with the staff at Global Boarders
  2. We have cleaning, hand washing and hygiene procedures in line with government guidance
  3. We have taken all reasonable steps to maintain a 2 metre distance
  4. Where people cannot be 2 metres apart, we have done everything practical to manage transmission risk
  5. We have updated our enrolment form to ask whether clients have experienced any COVID-19 symptoms in the past 14 days.
Eco Marine Sanitiser

Locally Sourced & Ocean Friendly, all our Surf School equipment and facilities will be sterilised after every use. “Our sanitiser products are tested and approved valid against all coronaviruses, including 2019 n-CoV / SARS-CoV-2.” Ecoworks Marine., 2020.

Working to government guidance our maximum private or mixed group ratio will be 1:8. We will also aim to stagger the arrival of customers to the Surf School to a maximum of 16 people, therefore ensuring that the 2 metre social distancing rule can be followed and that we can confidently sterilise any areas before / after use.

Group Lessons

With over 200 wetsuits and 100 surfboards we can guarantee our equipment will not be used more than once per day. Once used it will be thoroughly washed using Eco Marine & Dettol products,  99.9% medically proven to kill all strains of COVID-19. The used equipment will then be stored in a separate part of the surf school to air out and dry before any future use.

Sadly Government guidelines state that “Indoor facilities, apart from toilets and through-ways should be kept closed, however if you can create an outside space to provide a degree of privacy that’s fine” Official Government COVID-19 Guidelines., 2020.

Therefore at both our Gwithian and Praa Sands locations we will be offering our large Gazebo for extra privacy when changing. We ask that all customers arrive in their swimsuits and once you’ve collected your wetsuit from the surf school change by your car where possible, otherwise use our Gazebo. The Gazebo will be fully sanitised after each use.

We will have a selection of official signs located around the Surf School. Including a 1 way system for entering and leaving, sanitiser stations and reminder to adhere to the 2 metre social distancing rule. Be rest assured we are doing as much as possible to ensure our customers and staff feel safe and well informed during your entire Surf School Experience.

Socially Distanced Coaching

We have created new and exciting lesson plans for all levels of surfers booking with us this year. As a result it will be rare that your coach will need to be closer than 2 metres from you. The updated guidelines mean that we can now pull / push you into the wave, however sadly we cannot do any celebratory ‘High Five’s”. We are also operating to a 1/8 ratio and will schedule your lessons around when the conditions at Gwithian and Praa Sands are best to ensure a safe and enjoyable experience for all.
