ACCREDITED CENTRE OF EXCELLENCE
GWITHIAN – PRAA SANDS – ST IVES BAY
We are very proud to have been awarded the highest surf school rating ‘Centre of Excellence’ for four years running. The award recognises the highest level of coaching, equipment and facilities being offered to our wonderful customers to use year-round.
Surfing is our passion, and whether it is at our prime setup at Sunset Surf Cafe, Gwithian, or our mobile base 15 minutes away at Praa Sands, we pride ourselves on our expert local knowledge, committed approach to customer service, and providing an ultimate surfing adventure! New for 2020 we will be offering an unbeatable 1-5 group ratio, giving each of our customers more 1-to-1 coaching ensuring more time standing and less time wiping out. We have updated our surf school operations to fall in line with government guidelines, for more information on our COVID-19 Policy please click the button displayed below.
We have 2 fantastic beach-based locations at Gwithian and Praa Sands. Both beaches are known for their friendly rolling waves, perfect for beginner – improver level surfers. Both Gwithian and Praa Sands have excellent facilities including cafes, toilets, car parks, surf shops etc. We are the only Surf School that uses Gwithian and Praa Sands, which ensures you have plenty of space both the sea and on the sand to make the most of your surfing experience with us.
We are the only Surf School with a permanent base at Gwithian Beach, where we have teamed up with our friends at Sunset Surf Cafe to offer everything from Surfing, Stand up paddleboarding, Bodyboarding lessons and hire to delicious coffee and cake and freshly made breakfast and lunches. Gwithian is one of Cornwall’s more secluded locations, boasting an incredible three miles of golden sand, a local colony of seals, and warm, mellow waves, perfect for all water activities. Gwithian is also an RNLI lifeguarded beach, who operate from April – October 10 am – 6 pm.
Our main base on the south coast of Cornwall, we are the only licensed surf providers at Praa Sands, which is quieter than other, more famous destinations, and is home to some of the best beginner – improver waves around, and we’re big fans of the local shops, accommodation and campsites here who all offer fantastic amenities for both surfers and non-surfers alike. Like Gwithian, Praa Sands is also an RNLI lifeguarded beach, who operate from April – October 10 am – 6 pm.
When the condition is not perfect at Gwithian or Praa Sands then we head to St Ives Bay. St. Ives Bay is one of the most beautiful bays in Cornwall. Located near Gwithian, our team operates just minutes outside the popular town of St Ives. Our private and group surf lessons at St. Ives Bay are perfect for those wanting to surf in the backdrop of one of the most famous of Cornwall’s surf locations!
