Global Boarders surf school and Sunset Surf cafe have teamed up to provide Gwithian’s largest range of high quality surf hire equipment. We have all bases covered for anyone looking to take up watersports from Gwithian. Our huge selection includes soft and hard surfboards, bodyboards, wetsuits, paddleboard’s, giant paddleboard’s and sea kayaks.
Our hire centre is open daily from April – October from 10am – 4pm. Simply turn up between these times and one of our surf hire specialists will guide you towards the best package to suit your preferred activities and interests.
If you can’t make it to Gwithian or if you are looking for overnight hire packages then check out our new door to door hire service where we can deliver your equipment direct to your accommodation.
New for 2026 – Receive 1 hour free hire worth £15 when booking any type of surf lesson (to be taken directly after the surf lesson).
If you have never surfed before or if it’s your first visit to Gwithian beach then we would recommend signing up to a beginner surf lesson before hiring equipment. During the lesson your coach will give you some key safety points on rips currents, submerged rocks and where is best to surf on the different tides.

Our Improver surf lessons from Gwithian beach are for people who have had a few sessions in the past and are now ready to take their surfing to the next level! If you can regularly get to your feet riding the white water and have been bitten by the bug, then it’s time to take the step onto an improver surf lesson. One of our skilled coaches will help you choose an intermediate hard surfboard, which will open your eyes to a new world of surfing as you are taught, how to paddle out back, progress from white water to catching your first green wave, performing your first turns and understanding importance of surf etiquette.
Improver surf lesson – £45 per person.

The 2-hour private surf lesson packages are aimed at beginner – improver surfers looking to increase the speed of their learning curve, this is achieved by being able to create an environment that is tailored towards a surfers specific needs. We have a wide range of private surf lessons to suit all ages, abilities and group sizes. The lessons are 2 hours long, include full equipment hire and use of our private facilities.
