Chris
Global Boarders head coach Chris is a leading member of the West Cornwall underground surf scene. Chris is known for 3 qualities: surfing, large appetite and travel; an inspirational teacher with innovative coaching techniques. Chris proudly became the English Junior Surf Team Manager & Coach in 2015, leading a team of 12 of the UK's best young surfers to Oceanside, California, Azores, Portugal 2016 & upcoming Japan 2017 for the ISA World Surfing Championships. In what is considered the most prestigious junior surf competition globally, Chris led the team to 11th, the best result Britain has had in a long time! Such an achievement included taking the scalps of Brazil, Mexico, and New Zealand to name a few, certainly no easy feat! This Essex born sportsperson could not be more committed to the sport he enjoys. Chris has taught for many surf schools across Europe and Africa, learning from the challenges of teaching in different languages and cultures. Despite the luxuries of travel Chris is never happier than at home in Cornwall, where since taking co-ownership in 2013, has seen Global Boarders go from strength to strength. He takes great pride in his coaching delivery, and enjoys watching students of all ages smile, laugh, stand-up and wipeout their way to achieve personal goals. Along with Steve, Chris’s desire for travel has helped establish Global Boarders international school surf trips to South Morocco. This senior team member is a true free surf luminary who always finds time for everyone.
